Our name

You may already have wondered where the name "Woods" comes from, especially because we are in Austria and our name sounds very English.

Many, many years ago, Steven Woods drove as a guest from England to Austria in the Hotel Gänsleit to spend his skiing holiday there. It did not take a long time until he got his first skiing injury! As a result, Steve had to spend a lot of time at the hotel, and because of that he also came into contact with the daughter of the hotel owners, named Rosi. To cut a long story short: The two fell in love immediately, got married (that´s where the name “Woods” comes from) and gave birth to two wonderful sons and together they took over the Hotel Gänsleit.

Together with their now grown up sons the new house "Echt Woods Appartements" was built. The name says it all: "Woods" means "forest" in English, that´s the reason why we used a lot of wood in the furniture, for the floor and also for the beds which are filled with fine wood fibers. "Echt" is a German word and stands for the honest nature as well as the warm and family-friendly atmosphere by which we welcome you!
